Privacy Policy

Welcome to THE CLUE NOBODY NOTICED.

Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you visit our website or participate in the investigation.

1. Information We Collect

When you register for an investigator account or use the website, we may collect the following information:

Account Information. Your investigator name, email address, and login credentials. Passwords are used to authenticate your account and provide secure access to your saved investigation progress.

Investigation Progress. Your submitted suspect names and page numbers, verified answers, completed suspects, hint usage (if available), and overall progress. Your progress is saved so you can return and continue your investigation.

Certificate Information. Your investigator name and completion status used to generate your CASE SOLVED certificate.

Technical Information. Our hosting and security services may process information such as IP addresses, browser type, device information, and website activity. If analytics or advertising tools are enabled, additional information may be collected as described below.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected to create and manage investigator accounts; verify submitted answers; save investigation progress between visits; unlock the Final Reveal and completion certificate when the required investigation is finished; provide account support and password recovery; maintain website security; and improve website functionality. We may also send necessary account-related messages, including security notices, password-reset instructions, inactivity warnings, and responses to support or privacy requests. Promotional emails, if offered, will be subject to applicable consent and unsubscribe requirements.

3. Account Security

We take reasonable measures to protect personal information and prevent unauthorized access. Our website uses a hosting provider, and we work to maintain appropriate safeguards for account access and stored information.

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential. Please contact us through the website’s Contact page if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. No online service can guarantee complete security, but protecting user information remains an important priority.

4. Email Communications

We may use your email address to send registration and account-related messages, password-reset instructions, important security notices, inactivity reminders, and responses to your requests. We do not require you to receive promotional emails in order to participate in the investigation. If we offer marketing communications, we will provide any consent and unsubscribe options required by applicable law.

5. Cookies and Website Analytics

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies to support login sessions, remember preferences, and protect the website. We may use Google Analytics to understand website traffic and improve the reader experience. If enabled, Google Analytics may collect information about visits and interactions with the website. We may introduce advertising measurement tools, such as the Meta Pixel, in the future. Before using optional advertising or tracking technologies, we will update this policy and provide any notices, consent choices, or opt-out mechanisms required by applicable law.

You can also manage certain cookie settings through your browser. Disabling essential cookies may affect account login or saved-session features.

6. Sharing Your Information

We may use trusted third-party service providers to support website hosting, account security, email communications, and website analytics. These providers may process limited information as necessary to perform services on our behalf.

We do not sell personal information to third parties for their independent marketing purposes. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect the rights and security of our users and the website.

7. Certificates and Social Sharing

Readers who complete the required investigation may receive a personalized CASE SOLVED certificate. The certificate may display the investigator name associated with the account. If you choose to download or share your certificate, information visible on it may become accessible to others. Please review your displayed name before sharing it publicly.

8. How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain account information and investigation progress while your account remains active.

Accounts that have been inactive for 12 consecutive months may be scheduled for deletion. We intend to send a warning to the registered email address at least 30 days before an inactivity-based deletion. Returning to your account during that warning period will preserve your progress. If an inactive account is deleted, its saved investigation progress and certificate records may no longer be recoverable. Security logs, backups, and other records may have different retention periods where reasonably necessary for security, operations, or legal obligations.

9. Your Privacy Choices

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information through the website’s Contact page.

We may take reasonable steps to verify that the request comes from the account holder before making changes. When a verified account-deletion request is completed, we will delete the account and associated investigation progress, subject to information we must or may retain for legitimate legal or security reasons. We will send a confirmation to the registered email address when the request is completed. We aim to respond to ordinary privacy requests within 30 days, subject to applicable legal requirements. Information in backups may remain until those backups are replaced or expire under the applicable retention process. Depending on your location and applicable privacy laws, you may have additional rights concerning your information.

10. Children’s Privacy

THE CLUE NOBODY NOTICED is an interactive murder mystery and logic puzzle experience intended for individuals aged 13 and older. Children under 13 are not permitted to register for investigator accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not require a date of birth to register. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will take appropriate steps to address the account and its information. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without the required authorization, we will take appropriate steps to delete that information. If you believe a child under 13 has registered, please contact us through the website’s Contact page.
